Music is one of my ultimate fascinations in life.  I have performed, written, and obsessed over others' music for most of my life, but the power of it never fails to amaze me.  Free expression and the exchange of ideas is one of the only things that will bring our communication together and let us understand each other as humans.  There is also an incredible spiritual force in music, one that drove Saul's demons away when David played the lyre.  People leave their mark for generations to come-- art of any kind is immortality, but to record your voice and visions for future generations may be the greatest way.

Some of the bands I'm interested in:

65daysofstatic, !!!, A.C. Newman, Air, ¡All-Time Quarterback!, Ani Difranco, Architecture in Helsinki, Bauhaus, Bell Orchestre, Belle and Sebastian, Billie Holiday, Boards of Canada, Bob Dylan, Bright Eyes, BT, Camera Obscura, Cursive, Dan Bern, Dave Brubeck, David Bowie, Death Cab for Cutie, Deerhoof, Desaparecidos, Devendra Banhart, Ella Fitzgerald, Elvis Costello, Explosions In The Sky, Franz Ferdinand, Frederick Chopin, Four Tet, godspeed you! black emperor, Heiruspecs, Interpol, Iron & Wine, Jay-Z and DJ Danger Mouse, Jedi Mind Tricks, Joanna Newsom, John Coltrane, Joy Divsion, Kate Bush, Kraftwerk, Kruder and Dorfmeister, Lester Bangs and Birdland, Lou Reed, Louis Armstrong, Madvillain, Max Richter, MF Doom, Miles Davis, Modest Mouse, Múm, musicals (yeah I know), My Bloody Valentine, Necros, Nellie McKay, Nick Drake, Neutral Milk Hotel, Of Montreal, Olivia Tremor Control, Patti Smith, Pink Floyd, Pixies, Portishead, Rachmaninoff, Radiohead, Rilo Kiley, Sigur Rós, Sisters of Mercy, Skaven, Skye Klad, Sleeping at Last, Sonic Sum/Rob Sonic, Spoon, Stan Getz, Sufjan Stevens, The Arcade Fire, The Album Leaf, The Beatles, The Boomtown Rats, The Cure, The Decemberists, The Fall, The Fiery Furnaces, The Good Life, The Magnetic Fields, The Marcus Kellis Experience, The Party Party, The Postal Service, The Psychedelic Furs, The Rapture, The Shins, Theophilus Monk, The Smiths, Spoon, The Streets, Swans, and The Velvet Underground.

Most groups I enjoy have a counter-cultural spirit to them, which I think is infinitely more interesting and progressive in art than convention.

Personal Music:

"In Your Snare" is one of the only recordings I have online.  You can view the lyrics here.

I'm currently (very slowly) working on a goth-folk influenced album about man's relationship with alchemy and mythology. I'll post whatever I write on here when it's ready.  There should hopefully be some multimedia & hypertextual elements included, and it should be a great project to work on.
